Event Details

THEME: 5 Minute or Less WORKSHOP-ABLE Cards (see end of message for details)

All right ladies!  I'm SO excited to announce this event coming up in February. Instead of my 1st levels meeting, I have decided to host a shoebox swap event at ABC restaurant in Burnaby!  It's right off the freeway, so that will make it very accessible to everyone I hope, and if our dinner order clears $300, we can get the room for free!  Here's how it works:

The Room: I'll pay for the room rental if we are short, but for those who do not purchase dinner that night, you can chip in $10 to cover the room expense.  If we are over the minimum, that money will go towards prizes, room rentals in the future, and other cool things around that event!

The Swap: This event is a *swap only* event - there is no official business, just chatting and crafting, and what you do is bring a shoebox (or other box/bag) filled with supplies to make YOUR card OR 3D design (you will have one already made as a sample).  This is a +1 swap event, so you will make one more to send to Stampin' Up! for their monthly contest, and to vote on for prizes.  The best card or project of the night will win a prize from me!

Once at the event, we'll all have dinner (6:30-7:30), and at 7:30 we will clear the tables and start making everyone's swaps!  Now, if we have LOTS of people coming (YAY!) then when you are preparing, you will prepare 1/2 the cards in advance, and leave 1/2 as supplies to be made.  You will only make 1/2 of the cards at the event, and the other half will be put into a bag for you, so we can finish everything, and everyone has a copy of it in the end! **I will inform you if we reach a number which requires you to prepare half in advance**

This is a GREAT way to fill your sample boards with designs of different styles than your own.  If this event is popular enough, we will hold it every other month!  If you consider yourself a 'hobby demo', this is the PERFECT event for you!

Bring: Your own:

  • adhesives (tombow, snail or glue sticks) - if your project requires dimenionsals or other special adhesives, you will need to provide it for everyone to use.
  • Paper Snips
  • Scoring Tool of some sort (again, if you project requires a scoring device, please bring one for everyone to share)
  • instructions for your project - one copy for everyone to read as they make it
  • Your Camera to take pics of samples
  • Samples you have made of projects you are especially proud of - you will receive one additional doorprize ticket for every sample you bring!
  • Business Tips you can share - every tip you share gets you an extra ticket to win!

Please note: there is a maximum of 40 attendees for this event - if I do not have 40 by February 1st, I will open the event up to folks outside of our group.  If you have a potential recruit or 'golden customer' you would like to invite, please feel free to RSVP for them as well under a 'guest' option.

THE THEME:

For this swap the theme is '5 minutes or less, 'workshop-able cards or other make n' take projects' - in other words, FULL SIZED cards or 3D items with minimal layering that could be taught to beginners in a workshop setting.  They should be clean, neat and well-cut, and all supplies must be current Stampin' Up! supplies.  You MAY copy or CASE someone else's work, however you must give them credit for it if it ends up resembling their card. :)  Some examples of workshop-able cards are:

See you then!
